PinkPourri
I
am a two-time breast cancer survivor. A routine mammogram
discovered my first lesion, resulting with a lumpectomy
and radiation. The one year follow-up mammogram revealed
a duplicate image in my opposite breast. Although having
no family history, I elected to undergo a bilateral mastectomy
with implants. Surgery was 3 weeks prior to Hurricane
Katrina devastating my hometown of New Orleans, both difficult
times to overcome. As an RN, I realize the medical implication
to recovery. However, my varied experiences as a patient
enlightened me to the diverse aspects beyond medicine
to achieve a complete and healthy recovery. Hence, PinkPourri
was created!!!!
A
percentage of sales will be used to positively impact
women, assisting them from diagnosis through remission.
Donated funds will be individually utilized for educational,
emotional, physiological, and aesthetic needs.
Recovery
measures are as distinctive as the affected women. PinkPourri
was
created to offer financial assistance for breast cancer
patients in various ways. Monies are not deposited into
a general breast cancer fund donations are given to selected
individuals based on need and available resources. Patient
names will remain anonymous in compliance with privacy
regulations. An hour spa treatment, wig purchase, counsel
session, prosthetic purchase, or payment towards a doctor’s
bill no longer covered by insurance exemplifies creative
assistance PinkPourri
provides.
As
a small company in infancy, contributions will primarily
be utilized for patients in New Orleans and Gulf South
Region. PinkPourri
is associated with local breast cancer/medical facilities.
Hopefully soon through company growth plus foundation
qualification, PinkPourri
will align itself with national status.
Size
withstanding; your purchases are contributing to our pink
“sisterhood”. Breast cancer is no longer just a phrase
or something that other women get, these words now describe
us.

(Ms. E. P. is a local woman, single parent on medicare
undergoing chemo treatment for breast cancer. She recently
had a bilateral mastectomy. She was recommended to me by
her oncololgy nurse. Her nurse took me to her home on
Saturday to meet her. I presented her with a $500.00 check.
Ms. E.P. didn't know I was coming to do this. The nurse
told her she had a surprise for her.)
